I was a Lee County Master Gardener with Martin. I had the opportunity to touch base with him at Terry Park. His diligence in tending to the landscape there, especially during the summer heat, is something I appreciated and admired.

Please accept my deepest sympathy
I worked at Terry Park with Martin for
About 15 years. We were fellow Master Gardeners. Martin was always eager to help with anything anyone needed and was dedicated to his grapes as his father was.

I remember when his mother could no longer care for herself and he was the most devoted son ever. He put his life on hold to care for her. We should all be so lucky.

He loved to go and visit his nieces and was so eager to share the pictures after each trip.

God rest his soul.

Blessings

Martin taught me all about grape growing in Florida. He will be sorely missed. May he Rest In Peace.

Martin was a prince of a man
He was one of the most faithful helpers in the CHIP program I’ve ever had and I will miss him personally as a friend as well as a colleague.

I know he will Rest In Peace until he’s called to glory by Jesus.

Marty,

Always amazed me with his dedication, knowledge and passion to share the beauty of the garden at Terry Park that brought so much to so many that worked there and those who were sometimes struggling to find beauty in their lives, our transient population as well as those who passed by to see a ball game. Thank you Marty for the big and little treasures you shared. Rest well in the most beautiful garden of all.

I met Martin while working at the desk as a volunteer at the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve. He would come into the Interpretive Center on Sunday afternoons to share his sightings and adventures on his walk that day. Always had pictures to share and a story to tell. Ready to help and to share all that he knew.

Martin was always helpful, kind and eager to encourage our Master Gardeners in class as well as in the garden. When I had difficulty identifying certain plants, he would remind me “Florida has so many varieties, one can never remember them all. “
His loyalty and dedication to Master Gardeners and our mission was given with enthusiasm and caring. He will be greatly missed.

It was a gift to have known Martin, my fellow Master Gardener.
He was Always cheerful, Always Helpful, Always kind and full of knowledge and enthusiasm for plants and their relationship to people.
Every time I saw Martin at an event or a meeting, my heart lifted because he was such a joy to know and to work with.
We will all miss our friend, and his memory will be a light and guide for how to be what one Should be, both as a gardener and a friend to all.

I enjoyed gardening with Martin as a Master Gardener in Terry Park in Fort Myers. He had an amazingly wide scope of knowledge of the plants and creatures in Florida. He was always willing to help and happy to instruct. I would also sometimes see him at the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, where he would share photos and information with the visitors there. He certainly did a lot of good on behalf of nature in all his many many years of volunteering. I am blessed to have known him.
