Although it has been 3 years since Mike's passing, Vicki and I talk frequently about IMA and the times we spent caring for the community.    Mike was a very big part of that adventure and he contributed wisdom and expert advice to all of us.   As time goes by, the group is getting smaller for a variety of reasons but everyone still recalls the good times we spent together, he is missed.

Chris...  Although we are 600 miles away now, we wanted to express our condolences to you and your family on the death of Michael. He and you and all your family will be in our prayers!

The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them.

They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead;  and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction.

But they are in peace.

For if to others, indeed, they seem punished, yet is their hope full of immortality;  Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed,
because God tried them and found them worthy of himself.

I was a friend of Mike's at IWU.  Cross Country and Track teammates.  Mike was also a Biology major like me.  He was a competitor and not afraid of the work it took to compete.  Looking back, I think we all would have had "great" reasons why we "under-achieved." He came to IWU from a great high school running tradition- (Maine East?)  At Wesleyan we just never seemed to have good days all in the same race! ;-) I remember his laugh, his smarts, and how sensible/thoughtful he could be.  However, as I also recall, when the cross country team was together sense and sensibility kind of went out the window!  Too many years and too many miles have passed since he and I last saw each other.  John Fetcho let me know about Mike's passing.  Dave Darling, John, and I just had a flurry of emails reminiscing about Mike and our IWU running days.  I am so sorry to hear of his sudden passing.  I watched the tribute video. His love for all of you shined in the photos, as did your love of Mike.  My prayers will continue for all of you, particularly as you enter the holiday season.  -Pastor Jeff Barclay

My brother Sean introduced me to Mike,as Mike was Sean's boss.When I visited Ft Myers which over the past few years for business was quite regular,we enjoyed Friday nights on the patio at Cristoffs.I found Mike to be a great guy who was a man of faith and a loving husband and father.He talked regularly about his family and you could sense how important they were to him.Mike will be missed and those Fridays won't be the same,but I know one day our paths will cross again.Until then Mike, rest in peace.God Bless Chuck OBrien

I am glad I had the pleasure of working with him at the old IMA Colonial Blvd office,  he always had a smile on his face no matter what the day would bring.   He was not afraid to work and sweat as he was there helping us move from one office across the courtyard to the 2nd floor. Words cannot express the feelings that both Vicki and I had for Mike.    We go back 25 years when I first convinced him to relocate to Fort Myers;  and I recall all the meetings and time that he and I spent together as invaluable.
