Michael George Doherty of Fort Myers, FL passed away on February 4th, 2026. He was born in Boston, MA on October 24th, 1970. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a degree in Marine Engineering, class of 1994. He worked for over 30 years as a Chemical Engineer on the oil rigs off the African Coast.
He was a loyal member of the Tice and Shore Moose Lodge in Fort Myers. He lived life his way, loved his people and was always generous. He was proud of his Irish heritage and had a passion for all things related to his motorcycles, Boston sports, lacrosse, and scuba diving. He loved working with his hands, always looking for a new tool to buy and any reason to use it. He was the guy everyone turned to when they needed something fixed.
He left a lasting impression on everyone that knew him. Whether riding, diving, working, or just hanging out sharing stories, he was always fun to be around. He lived life loudly, and his kindness touched more people than he ever knew.
He is predeceased by his loving Mother Annette Doherty. He is also survived by his Father, George Doherty and his wife Lauren DeAngelis of Sunset Beach, NC; his sister, Kathleen Doherty of Falmouth, MA; his brother, Thomas Doherty and his wife Jennifer Doherty, Niece Caitlin Doherty, and Nephew Jack Doherty of St Johns, Fl; step-sisters Kasey Boudreau of Charlotte, NC and Madison Boudreau of Martha’s Vineyard, MA: as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends he considered family.
