Peter Karl Giessmann

Peter Giessmann, 87 of Fort Myers, Florida peacefully passed away on August 10, 2026. He is survived by his loving companion of nine years, Janice Rubenstein; his two children Michael (Jeffrey) and Tina; and his sister Jutta (Greg).

Peter married the love of his life Heidi in 1961. They enjoyed 57 years together as dedicated spouses and parents.

Peter was born on June 20, 1939 to Herta and Karl Giessmann in Breslau, Germany. After Peter graduated from Pottstown High School in 1956, he became a citizen of the United States and proudly served in the United States Army for four years.

After serving his country, he worked as a Laboratory Technician at Occidental Chemical for 33 years, before retiring to Florida in 2003. He was a skilled leatherworker who crafted many beautiful wallets, handbags, belts, and wall hangings. He was an avid skeet shooter at the Caloosa Sports Shooters club where he also served as Vice President. He loved the outdoors, and spending time with his dogs. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication and concern for others.
