Phillip Leslie Meeks (aka Phil, Pops, Philby) went to his heavenly home on 04-20-22. He was the most kind, compassionate, loving, witty and overall fantastic man. His memory will live forever throughout all of his friends and family. To say he will be missed is a severe understatement.
His honoring services will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park in Fort Myers, FL. The gathering of friends and family will be on Friday, the 22nd, from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be at Hodges’ Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, the 23rd, starting at 11am.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Pamela Purcell Bertolet Meeks of Fort Myers, FL, Rob Meeks (wife-Lori) of Lawrenceville, GA, Casie Tarpley (husband-Steven) of Fort Myers, FL, Carr Stewart of Fort Myers, FL, Matthew Meeks of Blairsville, GA and Rebecca Meeks of Fort Myers, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jiles L. Meeks and Lillian Bolton Meeks of Forest Park, GA; his brother and sister in law, Thomas Jiles Meeks and JoAnn Panter Meeks of Morganton, GA.
Phillip Meeks worked in the funeral home business for 42 years. His primary places of employment were Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA and Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, GA.
Phillip Meeks graduated from high school in 1973 from Forest Park High School in Forest Park, GA. He received his Bachelors Degree from Gupton Jones College in Atlanta, GA. He received his Doctorate in Mortuary Science from the National Academy of Mortuary Science in Hot Springs, AR.
Phillip Meeks was a member of the Forest Park Lodge and the Scottish Rite and Yaarab Shrine in Atlanta, GA from 1977-2016.
He was a member of Peoples Baptist Church in Tucker, GA, and later joined First United Methodist Church of Union County, GA.
