Ramon Gregory Edwards, affectionately known as “Remo,” age 57, was born on December 18, 1968, in Kingston, Jamaica, to his late parents, Yvonne P. and Louis Edwards. On September 30, 2026, Remo peacefully transitioned from this life in Fort Myers, Florida, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love, service, strength, and devotion.
Remo was a man whose presence left a lasting impression. Eloquent yet gentle, strong yet compassionate, he possessed a warm heart and a genuine love for people. To know Remo was to know a man who valued family, friendship, loyalty, and service. Those fortunate enough to share his life knew they could count on him—not only during life’s happiest moments, but especially during the difficult ones.
Above all else, family was Remo’s pride and joy. He was a devoted husband to Denise Edwards and a loving father to his children, Christopher, Gregory, and Mya Edwards. He cherished his role as a grandfather to his seven grandchildren, each of whom brought tremendous happiness and pride to his life.
Remo was also a loving and protective brother to Garth A. (Connie) Deidrick, Brett A. (Judy) Young, Andre O. (Leah) Edwards, Toya J. (Garry) Wright, Lois M. Rhodes, and Michael E. Lawson. He shared a special bond of friendship and brotherhood with his best friend, Victor (Miccal) Lyew. He was also a beloved uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many whose lives were made richer simply by knowing him.
Remo’s dedication extended beyond his family to his country. A proud and deeply patriotic United States Navy Veteran, Remo honorably served his country for 22 years, including service as a Seabee Instructor. His military career reflected so much of who he was—a man of discipline, courage, loyalty, leadership, and commitment. His service was not simply something he did; it was an important part of the man he became and the values by which he lived.
His commitment to learning and helping others continued throughout his life. Remo pursued an extensive education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, an Associate of Science in Emergency Medical Services, an Associate Degree in Health Science, and an Associate of Science in Medical Administrative Billing & Coding.
He used his knowledge and skills in service to others through several professional roles, including Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, and Emergency Medical Technician in Florida, as well as a Detention Officer in DeKalb County, Georgia. Whether serving his country, caring for patients, teaching others, or protecting his community, Remo approached his responsibilities with dedication and purpose.
Outside of his professional life, Remo knew how to enjoy the things that brought him happiness. He was a passionate New York Giants fan and enjoyed traveling the world, watching cooking and detective shows, and as a school volunteer. A Black Belt in Kung Fu, Remo carried the discipline, strength, focus, and perseverance of a martial artist throughout his life.
Yet among all his accomplishments and titles, what will be remembered most is the man himself. His caring nature and unwavering loyalty made people feel valued and supported. His love for life and for the people around him was infectious, and the impact he made cannot be measured simply by the years he lived, but by the countless lives he touched.
Although Remo’s earthly journey has ended and leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express. the love he gave remains along with countless memories—memories of his voice, his laughter, his wisdom, his strength, his kindness, and the moments shared with the people he loved. It lives on through his wife, his children and grandchildren, his siblings, his extended family, his lifelong friendships, his fellow veterans, and every person whose life was touched by his beautiful spirit.
The family is deeply grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love, prayers, kindness, and support they have received during this difficult time.
We will forever remember Ramon “Remo” Gregory Edwards for his warm heart, selfless nature, unwavering loyalty, courage, and beautiful spirit. His life was a testament to love, resilience, service, and dedication. Though deeply missed, he will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully, Remo. Your watch has ended, but your legacy lives on.
