Richard Eugene Medinis December 31, 1935 - April 24, 2018 Richard Eugene Medinis, Born December 31, 1935 in Detroit Michigan passed away peacefully April 24, 2018. Son of Joseph and Julia Medinis, who fled Lithuania during World War I and eventually settled in Detroit Michigan. Rich attended St. Benedicts grade school, and Detroit Catholic Central High, where he excelled in Track and Football. After attending Wayne State University, he began his career as a reporter at the Detroit Times, but his entrepreneurial spirit led him into Real Estate where he thrived before settling into his long-time career as an independent heavy machinery dealer, deeply entwined in the auto industry up until retirement in 2000 when he moved to Ft Myers, FL. An avid golfer, Rich achieved six Holes-in-Ones. He supplemented his love for golf by becoming a renowned collector of golf clubs, photos, and paintings, with a specialization on the career of Walter Hagen. As a member of the Golf Collector’s Society, he published many articles for magazines and was a consultant for the movie Legend of Bagger Vance. He enjoyed a relative healthy life and played golf regularly until a year before his passing. He is survived by his brother Joseph Medinis 86, ex-wife Claudette 80, three sons David, Craig (Jill)and Rickey (Alison), his fourth son Brian passed away in 2004. Pop’s loved spending time and watching his nine grandchildren, Mattie, Troy, Avery, Cameron, Clair, Erica, Evan, Colin and Sophia participate in sports, plats, recitals, and running around the park or beach. In lieu of traditional tributes and to honor the happy life he led, the family requests that you can remember his legacy of a good life by doing a good deed for someone with your best smile.
