

Robert Grodetz, 84, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Born on December 22, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Bob carried his Midwestern roots with him throughout his life, including a lifelong devotion to the Chicago Bears.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six years. Following his military service, he began a remarkable 50-year career as a truck driver, eventually owning and operating his own semi-truck. His dedication to safety and professionalism earned him the prestigious “Million Miles Safe Driving Award,” a testament to his hard work and commitment to excellence on the road.
In addition to his career accomplishments, Bob was actively involved in his community, serving as president of his homeowners association during the 1990s. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and deep love for his family.
Bob shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Nancy, whom he married on July 31, 1972. He is survived by Nancy; his children, Ronald Grodetz, Stephen (Kim) Grodetz, and Suzi (Robert) Human; many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sharon (Dan) Majchrowicz and Linda Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Dollie Grodetz, daughter, Sheila, his granddaughter, Kristen and two grandsons: PJ Glennon and Tony Glennon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers. Interment will follow at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bob will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his profession, and, most importantly, his family. His legacy of love, perseverance, and integrity will live on in all who knew him.
