Bob was born in Henlawson, WV to Waldo and Nina White Heugel. He graduated from Chapmansville High School. Bob worked at the naval yard in Norfolk Virginia before joining the Merchant Marines in 1942. He returned to Logan County WV and worked at Island Creek Coal Company and started working for the Boilermakers in 1944 with C&O Railroad until 1952. Bob was a member of Boilermakers Local 667 in Charleston, WV. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge Minturn No. 19 in Point Pleasant, WV. He was also a member of the Shriner’s Beni Kedem Shrine Center in Charleston, WV
Bob is survived by his wife of 71 years, Regina Claypool Heugel, who he married on September 22, 1942 in Ironton, Ohio. He is also survived by his 3 children: Harold (Ida Mae), Roberta Anne Cornell (Ron), Nina Brumfield.
Bob is also survived by his grandchildren Cathy (Brad) Bryant, Brad (Lee Ann) Smith, Kristie (Tom) McLean, Alisa (Mark) Vos, Gregg (Nicole) Smith, Natalie (Tim) Rose, and Narissa (Scott) Trigilio. He also was survived by his great grandchildren Jovi, Linsey, Steven, Kristyn, Amanda, Matthew, Malissa, Charles, Nathan, Olivia, Jimmy, Kassi, Ellie and numerous step-grandchilren and step-great-grandchildren, with his first great-great-grandchild expected in April.
Bob is survived by one brother, Ralph “Poochie” (Judy) Heugel of Fort Pierce, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his brothers Ray, Bethel, Benny, and Garnell, along with his sisters Norma and Ada.
