NOVEMBER 4, 1928 – SEPTEMBER 8, 2018
Robert Muriel (Bob) Keen, 89, of Fort Myers, Florida since 1982 and formerly of Nashville, Tennessee, entered into rest Saturday, September 8, 2018. He was born on November 4, 1928 in Henderson County, Tennessee, the son of the late Joe Dudley Keen Sr. and Indie Mae Gurley Keen.
Known by family, friends, and neighbors as the go-to handyman, he was always lending a hand to build, install, and fix. When not building or fixing something, he could usually be found tinkering in his well-organized garage, or shooting pool, or getting his boat ready for the next fishing trip. As an avid fisherman, he was eager to teach the amateur how to bait, hook, and clean the “Fresh Catch of the Day”. His sense of humor resounded with everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his children Debbie Sizer (Bob), Rhonda Keen, Mike Keen (Celia), Mary Humber (Norman), Patti Unruh (Von), 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother Billy Keen, sisters Geraldine Tyler, Shirley Whitworth, and Patretia Whitworth, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 54 years, Mary Anthel Gaskins Keen, beloved son, David Lynn Keen, son-in-law Philip Joseph Campbell, granddaughter Kayla Brooke Keen, brothers Joe Keen, James (Babe Ray) Keen, Troy Keen, and sister Imogene Keen Price.
After a lengthy career in grocery store business and management, he retired from The Kroger Company in 1988. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division/Artillery and Korean War 1950-1953.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 with visitation at 1pm and service at 2pm at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 10605 Terry Road, Cedar Grove, TN 38321. Reception to follow.
