Robert "Bob" Matthew passed away peacefully, Monday February 18, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones. Preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca A. Kennedy and his father, Robert C. Matthew. He is survived by his loving wife, Margie Matthew (Ailor); his two daughters, Kimberly Fitzpatrick (Kevin Fitzpatrick) and Julia Manies (Todd Manies); his granddaughters, Bryn and Cidney Fitzpatrick (Brian Floss); and his great-granddaughter, Hadley Floss; and by his sister, Susie Kaufman (Steve Kaufman). Bob was loved by all and will be fondly remembered for his love of his family and his great sense of humor. Some of his favorite pastimes included fly-fishing, sailing, and playing the drums.
A man of many talents, Bob was. A determined lifeguard, a talented drummer, a wonderful cook, and the best captain to ever charter a boat, are just a few of the abilities Bob possessed during his time on Earth.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Bob during his 80 years, among them: never camp in a rain gully, always keep an eye on the boom- especially during a jibe, and though you can never control the wind, you can always adjust your sails.
Bob touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
Funeral services are pending at this time.
