

Roger spent his entire career dedicated to public service. He first served in the Airforce; where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and obtained a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. In 1987, Roger served in the US Army. There, Roger received the Army Achievement Medal, which symbolizes a special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity, and professional excellence placed by the Secretary of Arms. Roger served the National Guard, receiving the Florida Commendation Medal for meritorious service while serving as Unit Administrator for Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 265th Air Defense Artillery (1996); and the Florida Distinguished Service Award for distinguished service while assigned as a Squad Leader, Battalion B, 3rd Battalion, 265 Air Defense Artillery Regiment (1998).
Roger has since retired from the New York City Transit Authority, and Lee County Transit where he worked as a transit supervisor. He also served his community as a Volunteer Veteran’s Park Basketball Coach, a Neighborhood Association President in New York, and a neighborhood baseball coach.
Roger is predeceased by his mother, Rosena A Fraser and his father, Vivian Arnold Fraser.
Roger is survived by his wife, Dortha Jean Fraser; his children: Nicole M. Cole, Richard VL Fraser, and Taylor A Fraser; his grandchildren: Josanye K. Cole, Bonique K. Cole, Diesha K Cole and Bancroft L Cole Jr., Amaya Oyola-Fraser, Maurice Flournoy-Fraser, Benjamin R. Fraser, and Noah C Fraser; and his great-grandchildren: Rosie-Michelle M Cole and Ariella A Cole. Along with his two sisters and brother: Lorraine P Marshall, Sandra V Fraser, and John W Fraser II, respectively; and Roger’s nephews and nieces: John W Fraser III, Devon A Fraser, Kristen M Fraser, and Natalie Leah.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 1230pm till 230pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Ft Myers, FL 33913. A private Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home after visitation.
