Ronald was a kind soul and a devoted family man, who made countless sacrifices to ensure the well-being of his loved ones. As a successful businessman, entrepreneur, and real estate broker, he provided for his family with unwavering commitment. Those who knew him can attest to his loyalty—both to his family and as a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, a true testament to his steadfast nature. He was also a man of deep faith and a longtime member of McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers.
Throughout his life, Ronald earned many nicknames: Dick Clark (never aging) Chevy, Magoo, Olive Oil, Roland, Renaldo, and his favorite, “Fearless.” Even in his final days, he remained true to that name—fearless in his journey to the afterlife. Godspeed, Dad.
Ronald cherished time with his family, especially playing Monopoly, and enjoyed countless adventures boating, fishing, snorkeling, lobstering, scuba diving, and traveling on family vacations and cruises. In the game of life, he was ultra-competitive yet fair, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a spiritual leader of the family, unwavering with his walk with Christ and a faithful giver to the church. He was a faithful, stoic leader and a devoted provider. When it came time to pay the bills, he might have cleared his throat and begrudgingly reached for his wallet, but there was always a smile on his face, like a Cheshire Cat. His wit and dry sense of humor will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
Ronald is survived by his children: John McCarty, Andy (Maria) McCarty, and Sean (Colleen) McCarty; and his grandchildren: Andrew, Kate, Shane, Nathan, and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jennifer; his parents, Francis and Marjorie McCarty; and his daughter, Melinda Sue McCarty.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82 in Fort Myers, on Saturday, August 24th, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ronald’s name would be appreciated to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
