Rosa had a brother, Kenneth Leon Bain who preceded her in his death. Their parents were James and Blanche Bain of Pulaski, Virginia.
A graduate of Pulaski high school, Rosa worked in a Pulaski dime store. There Rosa met the love of her life James Ray Cox, of Austinsville Virginia. After a whirlwind romance, Rosa and “JR” eloped to be married on September 1, 1951. JR preceded Rosa in death on November 16, 1995.
In 1952 they moved to Martinsville, Virginia to begin their life together raising three children while working for Dupont Textile and enjoying the many bounties of life, community, and family. Rosa was the intelligent spiritual rock of her family, always providing insight to the intricate meaning of life and guidance to always believe in yourself when facing life’s challenges.
J.R. retired in 1983 and they moved to Lehigh. Rosa attended Rise Christian Church, in Lehigh for 37 years. She opened her home, for the past 25 years, for weekly small group bible studies. Rosa was a woman of faith and was a blessing to all those she encountered. Rosa worked many years as a hairdresser, while living in Lehigh.
Rosa leaves a son, Donald Ray Cox, two grandsons Shain Ray Cox and Nuri Dean Cox living in Santa Barbara, California, two daughters and grandsons living in Lehigh Acres, Brenda C. Jones and Angela C. Garner with two grandsons, Duncan and Drake Minton.
