Salvatore “Sam” C. LaPilusa, 94, of Fort Myers, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018. He was born in Bayonne, NJ. Formally of Bayonne and Toms River, he and his wife moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 2016. As a member of the “Greatest Generation” he selflessly served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marie (nee Marchitto). He is survived by his brother Joseph S. LaPilusa of Folsom, California, His three children, Joseph LaPilusa and his wife Darlene of North Richland Hills, Texas, Joanne Caratura of Charlotte, NC, Michele Archer and her husband Thomas of Fort Myers, Florida; Six grandchildren, Kristen (Brian), Michael, Lauren (Ryan), Thomas, Matthew and Tyler. Six great grandchildren, Dominick, Christopher, Marcus, Reece, Dean and Audrey.
His family brought him immense joy and enjoyed spending time with them.
A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 21st at 2:30 PM at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home. On Monday, May 28th at 10:30 AM, Sam will be laid to rest with honors at Sarasota National Cemetery.
