January 19, 1940 – September 28, 2026
Sandra “Sandy” Martin of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born in Malden, Massachusetts, on January 19, 1940, Sandy graduated from Jamaica High School in Queens, New York, in 1957. Fiercely independent and strong-willed, she was never shy about expressing her opinions. Those who knew her appreciated her candor, determination, and unmistakable personality. She enjoyed the company of family and friends but was equally comfortable spending time on her own and living life on her own terms.
As a young woman, Sandy raised her three children largely on her own while building a career and providing for her family. In July 1973, she began a distinguished career with the Internal Revenue Service on Long Island, where she worked as a Program Analyst. She received numerous awards and recognitions for her dedication and exemplary work before retiring in December 1990.
Sandy later met Herbert Martin, and they shared 34 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2014. Together, they enjoyed “lake life” in the Pocono Mountains, where they created a home filled with family, friends, and cherished memories. Sandy later moved to Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers, where she lived for the past six years.
She enjoyed traveling, golfing, needlepoint, reading, puzzles, bocce, playing cards and Mahjong, watching game shows, and attending church. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Above all, Sandy treasured her family. She especially cherished time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, who brought her great joy.
Sandy is survived by her three children, Ronald Webster, Cynthia Asher, and Kenneth Webster; her five granddaughters, Nicole, Caitlin, Kierstin, Kayla, and Tiffany; and her great-granddaughter, Daisy. She remained grateful for the love of those family members from her marriage to Herbert who stayed close to her throughout her later years.
Those who knew and loved Sandy will remember her strength, independence, candor, devotion to family, and life lived fully on her own terms.
