October 1, 1943March 31, 2018

Sandra Kay Wait (Wagner) of Ft. Myers, Florida and Ashland, Ohio passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 after a brief illness. Sandra was born to Dorothy Wagner and the late Dr. Fredrick Wagner, October 1, 1943 in Mansfield, Ohio. She was a resident of Ashland, Ohio for most of her life. Sandra graduated from Ashland High School in 1961 and received her nursing degree from North Central Technical College, Inaugural Class of 1974. She was a nurse at Samaritan Hospital working in labor and delivery; she spent most of her time in the nursery.

Sandra married Hugh David Wait in 1963 and they had two sons, Todd and Jeff. After raising their family in Ashland, Dave and Sandra spent many years dividing their time between Ashland and Ft. Myers where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends.

Sandra had two loves, her family and golf. She was “Sandy” to most, “”Mom to her sons, and “Mema” to her grandchildren. She spent her life caring for her immediate and extended family and was always available to help with a move, a recipe, a cleaning tip, or even golf advice.

An avid golfer, Sandra was on the course year-round playing, practicing or volunteering during golf outings. She even spent a few years as a volunteer Assistant Coach to the Ashland University Women’s Golf Team. Golf was truly Sandra’s passion, and when she wasn’t on the course, she could be found watching it on TV. She owned bragging rights to five hole-in-ones.

Sandra is survived by her husband, two children: Todd, of Reston, VA; and Jeff (Kay), of Sylvania, OH, and four grandchildren: Andrew, Allison, Ryan and Ellen. She also leaves behind her mother, Dorothy of Ashland; sister, Karen Anderson (Wayne) of Plymouth, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Fredrick and brother, Donald.

A memorial service will be held in Ashland, OH at a date to be determined.

Dear Mr. Wait, Todd, Jeff and the entire Wait and Wagner families,
Kathy and I were were so saddened to hear of Mrs. Wait's passing. I have so many good memories of times with your family, and Mrs. Wait kept us laughing (and well fed!)- no matter how much homework we had to plow through while studying at your home on Laurel Ave., through the adventures we encountered in our grass-cutting foray in 1982, or during our sometimes frustrating baseball season as seniors at AHS. I always felt at home with you in high school and afterward, and am grateful for your hospitality and friendship. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Wait and with your family.

With Deepest Sympathy,

Phil and Kathy Helal
