Sherrill Barger Cornett, born on November 9th, 1940 in Perry County, Kentucky to parents Dorothy and Burley Barger, passed away peacefully on December 13th, 2025 at the age of 85. She is survived by her brother Howard Barger, her daughter Diana Cornett, and her grandson Scott Skinner.
Sherril's great passion was teaching. She served many years in Kentucky as an elementary school teacher, guidance counselor, psychometrist, and administrator for Boone County schools. She loved teaching reading and writing to the children, especially the second grade.
When she retired to Florida, she continued to serve as a favorite substitute teacher in Lee County schools until the age of 82. Over the course of her career she touched many lives in a loving and positive way and she is remembered fondly by students and parents alike.
