Stephen James Lee

Stephen "Stevie" Lee, 56, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, under the compassionate care of Hope Hospice. Though our hearts ache with his loss, we find comfort in knowing he has been joyfully reunited with his beloved parents, Jacqueline Lee and Talsop Lee.

Born on October 15, 1969, Stevie brought immense light, joy, and kindness to everyone he met. Though his time with us was far too short, his gentle spirit, warm laughter, and loving heart left an enduring mark on all who knew him.

Born with Down syndrome, Stevie lived a life filled with purpose, happiness, and an extraordinary ability to brighten every moment. He loved sports, especially basketball and swimming, and proudly earned a Bronze Medal in cross-country skiing at the 1984 Winter Special Olympics in Park City, Utah.

Stevie formed meaningful connections with family, friends, coworkers, and countless others throughout his life. For 25 years, he worked part-time at Publix Super Markets, where he was known for his dedication, warm spirit, and friendly interactions with customers. He was also supported by the Cape Coral Special Populations program and Down Syndrome Supported Living (DSSL), communities that enabled him to thrive and live with independence, dignity, and purpose.

Stevie's life was a true gift. Through his unwavering kindness and joyful presence, he taught those around him the values of faith, hope, love, and the beauty found in life's simplest moments.

He is survived by his devoted siblings, Edward Lee and Lisa Lee Souza, who will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and lifelong bond they shared with their beloved brother. He is also lovingly remembered by his extended family, friends, coworkers, caregivers, and all those whose lives were touched by his remarkable spirit.

An interment service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, Florida.
