My name is Jessica, I worked with Sterling at Lee Memorial Hospital a few years ago when I first became a CNA. I remember being extremely nervous about starting the job and wondering if I’d be able to stay awake for the night shift, he immediately made me feel at home and at ease with my job and always joked around and kept us awake. His presence was one that made you laugh and I always knew it was going to be a great shift when I seen he was working on the nights I’d be working. The memories I have of him are all of him smiling and cracking jokes left and right, pranking the staff with harmless pranks but also helping us CNA’s learn while under his watch. He would sit with us countless times and talk about nurse related stuff and different scenarios that he felt we should prepare for as most of us wanted to become nurses.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends, may you all find comfort in the person he was and all the lives he helped in his lifetime.

Dearest Patty & family, our sincerest condolences on your untimely loss.  May you find peace & comfort in knowing how loved & respected he was & take pride that he was raised in faith & made a positive impact on those lives he touched.

Sterling, my friend, my brother.  Will always remember the Firecat days. Crazy antics, traveling to the games and tailgating.  You and your family always welcomed me with open arms to which I will be eternally grateful. You have always been a constant in my life and you will be missed beyond measure. I know God has gained an amazing Angel that will be my side till we meet again. I love you my brother....

Sterling was definitely one of a kind!  He always remembered my schedule and had it waiting for me on my desk. I’d see him watching out the window as I came in and when I’d ask how the night went, he’d laugh and say, “it’s not over yet.”  As he would leave I once told him to have a good night and he’d say it was better to say have  a good sleep, so I always told him to have a good sleep. Sleep well, Sterling, you will be missed and your laughter and faithfulness will be a fond memory!  May God bless your family!  You will always be missed—“Have a good sleep, Sterling!!”💜

I will always remember his laugh. And he did like to have a good time. I also remember when he was the Hawaiian love God.

Oh Sterling my dear supervisor. You will be so missed, especially by night shift staffs. You will be missed for the smallest of things you always do for the nurses that made a world of difference to us. Like restocking the crash cart to putting up the monthly forms to be filled out nightly. Oh how much all the mothers appreciated our teddy bears (mine is light blue). You were the only one to call me Princess. What I would give to tell you that I am sorting morning shift med tote again so you could leave to go visit your grandchild whom you bragged about and was so proud of. You thought you could sneak up on us, but we always hear the elevator and your loud sneakers, even when you came through the kitchen. You will be so deeply missed by all. Sterling, now take your bow and rest well.

You will be dearly missed by the night staff here at shellpoint brother, it was such an honor to work with you and to reminisce on fun spirit you were. Anything could come your way and you'd get through with no complaint and were always there to help anyone and everybody.   We lost a precious friend  a friend who won't be forgotten.
