

Steven George Hunter, 69, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. Born on January 18, 1956, in Evergreen Park, IL, Steve lived a full and meaningful life dedicated to his family, his work, and the simple joys he cherished.
He was proceeded in passing by his brother, Ward Oscar Hunter (August 21, 2004), and father, Robert Ted Hunter (March 11, 2005). He is survived by his mother, Jeanne Marie Hunter.
Steve graduated from Harold L. Richard High School, Oak Lawn, IL in 1974. Steve obtained his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the university of New Mexico in 1991.
A proud veteran, Steve honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1976 until 1985 before moving with his parents to Fort Myers, Florida. He began his career in pharmacy, starting as a pharmacy technician at Cape Coral Hospital in 1982, known for his hard work and resourcefulness. He met his beloved wife, Susan, of 41 and a half years while working at Cape Coral Hospital. Steve and Susan married in 1983. Together they raised their two children: Andrew and Jessica.
Steve loved his daughter in law, Amanda, and son in law, Bryan, as if they were his own. Welcoming them into the Hunter family with open arms. Steve was also a proudly devoted grandfather to four grandchildren, Adalynn, Nathan, Reagan and Brynley, who brought him immense joy and happiness. Becoming a grandfather was an accomplishment he held dear to his heart.
Steve cared for many loyal dogs over the years which were his constant companions, a testament to his kind and gentle nature. In his free time, Steve connected with fellow veterans via Facebook, as quoted by his friend Gary Johns, “Steve was a great man and will be missed by many. A loyal, honest hardworking man who we all should strive to be more like”.
Steve will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet strength. A private memorial service will be held by the family in March.
