Velia B. Hruska
July 1, 1924 – May 2, 2022

Velia Ballard Hruska, age 97, passed away peacefully at home in Marietta, GA, on Monday, May 2, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Velia is survived by her 3 daughters Rita Mollard of Round Rock, TX; Lia Kerfoot (Ronald) of Cape Coral, FL; and Yvonne Haugh (Jordan) of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Tricia Mollard, Emily Perry (Leo), Kitrina Muniz (Noel), Katherine Swosinski (Justin), Sarah Kerfoot, Philip Haugh and Daniel Haugh; and seven great-grandchildren: Dylan Barnes, Eleanor Perry, Natalie Perry, Claudio Muniz, Dominic Muniz, Logan Swosinski and Raegan Swosinski.
Velia was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Elmer John Hruska, and her two brothers Francisco Ballardo and Alphonso Ballard.
Velia was retired from the United States Navy where she worked as a secretary for the Naval Communications Station’s commander in Amador, Canal Zone (Panama) for 25 years. After retirement, Velia and her husband relocated their family to Lehigh Acres where they were longtime residents. Velia also worked for the Lehigh Corporation for 10 years. She was an accomplished pianist, and member of the Ladies Order of the Elks and Lehigh Regional Medical Center Volunteer Auxillary.
Friends and Family can pay their respects on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park in Fort Myers, FL. Visitation will be at 10am, Funeral Service at 11am with burial to follow.
