Walter graduated from Edison High School in Miami Florida. He was married to Joan Rita Passino on November 19, 1955, Walter devoted himself to a few different careers but retired from the Lee County government as a truck driver in October 2002.
He had a passion for his family out outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, boating, and photography.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan, five children: Charles "Chuck" Johnson, Theresa (Terry) Kelley, Wanda (Frank) Rodriguez, Robert "Bobby" Johnson, and Doyce (Scott) Fischer, and 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 5 triple G children.
