This is a letter Ryan wrote about his  father Walter O'Gallagher that Paul Grassi read at not one but two funeral services that were held for him.....

  First of All, I would like to Thank those of you that came to show your respects. I am sorry I could not be there to join you.
A part of me has passed away along with my father but a bigger part of him is still alive in me.He will always be in my heart and on my mind, his memory will never die.
  When I was a kid I used to tell my father that I wanted to be just like him when I grew up, and he would always say "Don't be like me, be better than me". When it came to being a father there was noone better than him.
He is extremely proud of all his 7 of his children, always quick to brag about his son Jimmy "The Marine" and Jeannie the "Police Captain".
  Right now we are all hurting as we mourn his death, but we cant help but smile when we share stories and celebrate his life.
He was a natural entertainer with a great personality.He is one of a kind.
  They say as long as you have your sense of humor you have not truly been defeated. My father did not let his health problems defeat him, he was still making us laugh to the end.
I would like to give a special Thank You to my mother Maureen. She is an amazing care taker and she dedicated all her time to making sure he had everything he needed.She added years to his life.
 My father is my best friend, we really understood each other and there wasn't a secret between us.

Well Dad you said it first and I guess now I have to say it last  " I Love You"

Dear Daddy,

There are no words to describe how much I Love and Miss you! I would give anything just to hug you and hear your voice again. You have been such an amazing father to me. You and I have a very strong and special bond that will never, ever be broken.
Daddy, you truely floored us all with your thoughful act of carving our special message on that tree! I dont know 10 years ago when you did it, if you knew how spiritual it was going to be for us!.We Thank You for that!

There are so many wonderful memories we have had together that I would love to write down but then this would be an endless novel.
I am grateful for all the years God gave me with you and I pray that you are safe in heaven! Please Daddy, continue to watch over us and protect us as you always have.I know one day we will be together again!
I think about you every single day!

Thank You for giving us all you could! We always appreicated you~

Walter was the funniest person in my life, he was also sensitive and caring. 

Walter's dogs Lucky, Rookie and Brandy were found and loved by Walter. Especially Lucky  aka "Nutsie". Walter was worried about Lucky's future, but Lucky will be well taken care of because that is what Walter wanted.

After Walter passed Ryan, told us about an enevelope Walter had in his drawer. The enevelope said:

"For Tori and Ryan 
Not to be opened till my death"

Inside was a note dated 4/2/00

"For Tori and Ryan I left a message at my grave on a tree. Turn around and look at two trees. The one on the right, facing the street you will find my message.

Luv Ya 
Daddy-"

On this tree was the message " I Luv Ya" was carved in that Walter had done 10 years earlier. He touched our hearts and we love and miss him.  You did a good job Walt.

Uncle Walter, it is so sad that you are gone. I must say you lived one hellava life! Being a small child, watching funny Uncle Walter entertain with all his tricks, is a memory I will have forever. All the old stories of the 4 O'G Brothers would make a great book!! I know my dad misses you, as we all do and I can still hear your giddy little laughter. Sleep well Uncle Walter, kiss Uncle Danny for me and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of His hand! Love you, Sharon O'Gallagher-Galvin

Uncle Walter, even though I didn't see you much, Your brother Dan (dad) and Ruthie your sister in law  (mom) always told me about you growing up and living life with you.  The stories always made me laugh and smile.  It also always made me wish I had met you sooner and more often. Always in our hearts.  Dennis and JoEllen O'Gallagher

I will miss you SO much, Uncle Walter. We had so many GREAT times. I can't hear George Carlin and not think of you. Everytime I hear Willie Nelson I can see you in the lounge chair in Maryland getting a tan and singing along. I hope you and Uncle Danny are having a cold beer together and sharing a laugh. Walter you had a great ride proven by all the pictures, which bring back many memories. Miss you.

Memorial Service

May 22, 2010 at 1pm a Funeral Service was held. Walter O'Gallagher was then flown back to his home state New York. On June 1,2010 Walter's family and friends gathered at Robertassio's Funeral Home in Patchogue,Long Island at 12:30pm.
