William C. Evans

WILLIAM C. EVANS age 84 died September 24, 2011 in Fort Myers, Florida. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 29, 2011 at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 3825 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33901.

Bill was born August 14, 1927 in Ventnor City, New Jersey, the son of the late Samuel and Anna Evans. He was a graduate of Atlantic City High School(1945) and Lehigh University(1953). Bill served in the US Army in Japan and Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star with the “V” device for Valor. He retired in 1968 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Bill was employed by DuPont from 1953 until his retirement in 1985 working in various locations including the Netherlands. Bill and his wife Elsie moved to Fort Myers in 1989 and he was active on The Landings and Ariel Boards for many years. His interests included fishing, boating, photography, fishing, golf, the history of World War II, and short-nosed dogs.

Survivors include Bill’s wife Elsie of 61 years; three daughters Judi Evans of GA, Barbara Hipple (Matt Campbell) of NE and Kathy Vecchioni (Don) of MD; four grandchildren Kaitlyn and Abbey Hipple, and Alex and Claire Vecchioni; many dear friends.
