Alfred was born in Vero Beach August 24, 1939 to Vergie Mae and Alfred Barnes. After graduating high school, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he served from 1957 until 1960. He was promoted to rank of Sergeant and served the majority of his active service as a weapons instructor at the Marine base on Parris Island, SC. Prior to this retirement to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, he owned and operated Harold Barnes Harvesting in the Tri-County area.
In recent years he returned to Vero Beach to be near his children and grandchildren.
Harold leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Sherry; two sons, Steven Barnes and Jerry Little; two daughters, Stephanie Kinchen and Adrienne Morris; grandchildren Kenny, Lindsey, Brandon, Hannah, Hayley, Alex, Hunter, Michael, Jonah, Teresa and two great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed here by family and friends – until we meet again Babe! We know you’re resting in the arms of God.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 3:00pm at Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marine Corps Toys for Tots- Semper Fi!
