Alice was born in Boston to Anna and William Chisholm. She was raised there along with her two beloved sisters, Dorothy (Dottie) Macdonald and Constance (Connie) Churchill. While attending college in Boston, she met her husband Henry (Hank) Schmitz at a MIT mixer and they were married in 1956. Alice was a teacher before starting a family. Alice and Hank had five children and raised them on the North Shore of Massachusetts and later in Poughkeepsie NY. As she raised her children, she was always involved in the local education systems, the local Catholic church, and her community. Bridge groups and book clubs were a major interest in Alice’s life. As were sewing and quilting. Alice and Hank moved to Florida in 2005 and immediately found home in Portofino Shores. Here they made many wonderful friends and again became active in their new community. Alice was on the clubhouse and entertainment committees as well as the CDD. Many people have remarked that Alice and Hank were the first to welcome new residents to the community. And her best loved activity above all else was walking on the beach.
Alice passed unexpectedly on January 4th and will be forever missed. She is predeceased by her parents, Anna and William Chisolm. She is survived by her husband Hank, her sisters Dottie and Connie, and five children Ann Essensa (David), Janet McCabe (Alan Pelstring), Henry Schmitz III, Steven Schmitz and Robert/Drew Schmitz. She is also survived by four grandchildren Fielding, Dacia, Amanda and Henry as well as 3 great grandchildren, Oliver, Luka and Kaylee.
Alice will be forever remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
