Arlene was born and grew up on Fresh Pond Road in Brooklyn, New York. Her father was Louis Blum from Boston. Her mother, Margaret Blum, immigrated to the United States from Ludwigshafen, Germany. Arlene had no brothers or sisters.
Arlene married Fred Meyer and then moved to Rosedale, New York and had one child, Thomas. The family moved to Florida in 1970 when Fred retired. They built a new home at 300 Bay Street in River Park in Port St. Lucie. Arlene and Fred then moved to Palm Grove in Ft. Pierce, Florida in 1992. Fred died shortly thereafter. Arlene never re-married, but nevertheless pursued an active, vibrant life on her own for as long as she could.
Arlene touched many lives throughout her 97 unforgettable years. She will be remembered for her wit, her humor, her curiosity, her toughness and her genuine compassion for others. Arlene’s greatest joy came from the time she was able to spend with family and friends. One of her happiest moments later in life was the first time she saw and held her new-born grandson, Jamison.
Arlene was a good friend to many and was blessed with her faith in God and with many close friends. Arlene often said how grateful she was for these blessings. Thank you Walli for a lifetime of memories, love and caring. Thank you, Cheryl for your never-ending love and compassion. Thank you Venera for the love and time you extended to Arlene during the last couple years of her life. Thank you to the Seniors and the forever family at St. Andrews Lutheran Church who always kept Arlene in their thoughts and prayers.
Arlene is survived by her son, Thomas, her daughter-in-law, Annett and her eight year old grandson, Jamison.
