Barbara Jean Smith

Barbara Jean Smith, age 82, of Port St Lucie, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024, in Port St Lucie, Florida. Barbara was born March 2, 1942, in Montclair, New Jersey.

She was the daughter of William and Nancy Brooks of Montclair, New Jersey. Barbara was a long-time member of The Order of the Eastern Star and served as Past Royal Matron of Ruth Chapter #7 in Fort Pierce, Florida and Past Royal Matron of Unity Chapter #37 in Stuart, Florida. She also served as a Precinct Clerk with the St Lucie County Supervisor of Elections Office for over 20 years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, William, and her brothers John Koegel, Herbert Koegel, nephew Christian Koegel and sister Carol Brennan.

She is survived by her siblings, Louise Williams and her brother, Richard Brooks and his wife, Susie, her stepchildren and their spouses: Joseph and Natalie Smith, Robin and James Hartless, and Christopher Smith, her nieces and their spouses: Kathy and Jack Krantz, Peggy and Joel Weltz, Eileen Long and her nephews and spouses Robert and Kim Koegel.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, 2240 SE Walton Road, Port St Lucie, Florida at 11:00 AM and will include an Order of the Eastern Star Memorial Service.
