Charles Lafayette Dean

January 28, 1936March 25, 2021

Charles Lafayette Dean died in the hospital on March 25, 2021, after a short illness. He was 85 years old. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Anne (Hawkins) Dean. He is survived by his three siblings: Harold Dean (SC), Margaret Miller (WV), and Donald Dean (WV). He is also survived by his four children: Donna Fay Rea (Lake Worth), Deena Kay Dean (Ft. Pierce), Debra Ray Friedman (Port St. Lucie), and Gerald Lee Dean (AL). He was a proud grandfather to seven: Daniel, Travis, Angelique, Cody, Alexander, Lucas, and Kimberly. He was also a great-grandfather of three: Brighton, Aurora and Amelia. Charlie was an Army veteran who served his country as a photographer. He was stationed in Honolulu, HI during the Korean Conflict, and his young bride Shirley was able to travel with him. Afterward, he returned to his beloved West Virginia where he was born and raised, and completed his B.S. in psychology. He worked for FMC until he moved his young family to south Florida in 1968, and loved it here since. He retired from Visual Graphics Corp. in 1999, at which time they moved to Port St. Lucie. He loved to play the piano, was an avid golfer and sports fan, and enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandsons. He loved to be outdoors, and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-children. He was a devout Christian and his faith in God was unwavering. May he rest in peace in Heaven, along with his wife Shirley, and continue to look over his loved ones. Dear Deena,Jill, Debbie and family
I am so deeply sorry at the passing of Charlie! I did not get to spend a lot of time with him but the few times I did, he always brightened my day! He was such a kind man and was always happy! I’m so glad that I did get to know him and that wonderful smile! I wish I could do something to lighten your pain and if you think of something I can do to help in anyway - please just tell me! God bless you Charlie and keep you safe until we all meet again! Wendy Golden

I have so many wonderful memories with Charlie and Shirley Dean. Leaning to swim, learning to fish, learning to play piano, going to church, learning to love Country music😂 and the list goes on and on. They were always so good to me and my family. We were not blood related but you would never know. They were and absolutely will always be my family. I'm so sad to hear of Charlie's passing. He will be missed so much. I have peace knowing he is not in pain and is now reunited with his beautiful wife. May they both be laughing and rejoicing in heaven. Love you both. Till we see each other again. We are sending our deepest condolences to the family and friends. Sending prayers for healing during this difficult time. We love you all. The Peak Family.🙏💔
