She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life.
Hazel was born March 5, 1924 in Morvin, Georgia. Her family moved to Miami, Florida in 1927.
She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1942. After high school, she married Robert "Bob"
Suit in Norfolk, Virginia. She lived with family in Miami until he returned from the Navy.
They moved to Fort Pierce and built a home in 1947. Bob passed away in 1977, and Hazel remained in
their home until 2015, when she had to move to assisted living.
Hazel was of the Baptist faith and a past Grand Noble of Rebekah Lodge #13. She retired after
working for 25 years in Food Service for Saint Lucie County schools.
Hazel will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved
by all who knew her. Spending time with her family was her favorite pastime. She was an excellent
roller skater in her younger years.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jane Maheuron (Terry), daughter-in-law Anne Suit, sons, Robert "Bob" Suit (Gloria) and Ronald Suit, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grand children and 4 great great grandchildren, two sisters, Reci Legg, and Dena Davis, two brothers David Melton and Donald Melton.
She is predeceased by her parents Elbert and Cora Melton, her husbands, Robert N. Suit and James M. Landrum, son Clyde Suit, sisters, Lucille WIlliams and Evelyn King, brothers, Jack Melton and Leonard Melton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 11am-1pm at Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce located at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life begins at 1pm followed by a graveside service.
