Herbert V. Peterson Jr. died peacefully on January 19th, 21-years after his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease. His love and devotion to his visually-impaired wife, Penny and family was unparalleled and always at the forefront of his life. Pete, as he was affectionately called by his friends was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on March 17, 1939 to Herbert V. Peterson, Sr. and Gladys Downey Peterson. Pete always proclaimed that everyone celebrated his birthday on St. Patrick’s Day! In his early years Pete worked for Hartol Petroleum which was a company co-founded by his father and later sold to Tenneco. His time there initiated his interest in business, and he went on to Lehigh University where he graduated with a B.S. Degree in Business Management. Pete over his business career was an executive in several banking roles in New York City and New Jersey. Pete was an avid golfer and held memberships at Baltusrol Golf Club, Montclair Golf Club, Dorset Field Club, the Short Hills Club and the Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club. He also was a loyal and unwavering fan and season ticket holder for the New York Jets for more than 20-years. Pete also liked to travel to Europe and the Caribbean with Penny and his family, but his favorite place of all was Dorset, Vermont. Pete is survived by his wife of 55 years, Penny, son H. Bradley Peterson, daughter Samantha L. Lynch and their spouses and 4 grandchildren. Services private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Michael J.
