Joanne Trainor, aged 86, of Dunbar, West Virginia, and formerly of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia. She was surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Born on May 23, 1939, she was the cherished daughter of Samuel and Ann Costarella and the beloved sister of Sammy, who passed away at age 12 from leukemia. Joanne Trainor graduated from McDonald High School in Ohio in 1957 and was originally from Youngstown, Ohio.
Joanne’s life was as vibrant as her smile. Well into her 80s, she remained active, healthy, and full of energy— always ready for a new adventure, a family gathering, or a friendly game of mahjong or bocce ball. She worked for many years in Vero Beach, Florida, at Publix Supermarket as a deli clerk until she retired to enjoy her home at the Spanish Lakes Country Club. Joanne was well-loved there for over 25 years and had the joy of playing piano at various events, including every Veterans Day, to honor the veterans. She delighted in performing, her piano and voice filled every room with warmth and joy.
Her devotion to her family was the heartbeat of her life. Joanne adored her sons, Joseph Graziosi, Jr. (Stacy) of Arden, North Carolina, and Michael Graziosi (Connie) of Dunbar, WV, and Judy Graziosi of Vero Beach, Florida, pouring her heart into being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She never missed a birthday or holiday, often surprising her family with thoughtful cards, special dinners, and trips and visits that became treasured memories, including many cruises on her golf cart. Her Sunday Spaghetti Dinners were legendary — a tradition that brought everyone together around her table, where laughter, love, and the smell of homemade sauce filled the air.
A devout and lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ- Treasure Coast Branch, Joanne’s faith in Jesus Christ guided her every step. She was a pianist at the church for many years until moving to West Virginia. Joanne continued to join church services regularly by Zoom, even after her move, as she was truly cared for by her fellow church members and friends.
She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Ashley Lewis (John), Elizabeth Greer , Evan Swain, Melissa Russell (Corey), and Elijah Graziosi; and her ten beloved great-grandchildren.
Joanne’s legacy is one of love, music, faith, and joy — a life lived fully, a heart shared freely, and a spirit that will forever inspire those who knew her. She lived with sincerity, humility, and a genuine kindness that touched everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
There will be no service at this time. Burial will be held at a later date at Aycock Funeral Home & Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, Florida.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
