John David Matzinger was the only son born to Lewis Clayton Matzinger and Doris Georgia Roper. He was born in Norwich, Chenango County, New York on the 26th of April 1951. He passed on the 22nd of April 2024 at home. Growing up John had his share of learning to live with women since all his siblings were girls. This could be why he never married or had children. John started his career and love of cars learning from the best mechanic, his father, who owned a body shop in Norwich. When the family moved to Florida in 1972 that love of cars continued. Lewis and John worked for Baslow-Henschel and help start the body shop. The company was bought out and is now known as Coggin BMW Treasure Coast. John retired after 45 years of service. He had lots of hobbies including tennis, golf, car shows, concerts. He was a kind-hearted man when it came to animals and cherished his pets.
John is survived by his sisters Janet Wagner, Mary (John I) Dennis, Carol (Darrell) Blakeslee. He also was loved by his nieces and nephews, Michelle Wagner, Kelly (Jared) Altic, Brian (Craig) Blakeslee, John Dennis II, and Peter Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John will be missed for years to come. His Cheshire cat grin, his knowledge of how to build and fix almost everything and his dedication to his family will always be remembered. He always helped in anyway he could. In leu of flowers, please donate to your favorite animal charity. A graveside service will be held with family and friends. He will be interred at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL.
