To Sydney, Joni, and family....My thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this very difficult time. Your mom was such a kind and amazing woman. I will remember her fondly.

It was so many years ago that I met my PSL family, the Liebmans and Grandma and Grandpa.  Grandpa- stronger than an ox, Grandma- as kind as can be. I will always remember being tickled until I give up, and PEANUT BUTTER PIE! I always thought about my Grandma and Grandpa when I saw them. Truly awesome Grands! 

Thank you for letting me be a part of your family, and experiencing the love and kindness that is hard to find.  I love you all dearly. My heart and sympathy goes out to you all.  In loving memory of a wonderful and kind hearted woman.  I will love you and miss you always.

To Marshall, Jean, Sydney, and Joni and families:

I knew only the oldest two of you when you lived in Mounds, Illinois.  I have become a very good FaceBook friend of Marshall's recently and he has shared many things about your lives with me since you left Illinois.  I remember vividly your mother because, firstly, you all lived only a block away, on N. McKinley Street, and secondly, she and my mother, Flo Westfall, were the two best altos in the First Methodist Church choir.  I remember your mom in her prime as a warm and yet formidable lady who kept your family together throughout all times of inevitable stress. I was happy that when Marshall and I first reconnected, she remembered more about our family than did Marshall! 

It still feels weird for some of us who knew Marshall until he was ready for high school, not to call him "Jackie."  I had a relative who had the same problem with his childhood name and living in a small town like Mounds can brand one with a name from birth that tends to stick forever. I remember you, Sydney, as only a toddler and a year older than my sister, Anne Westfall.  I don't think you, Joni, were even born when your family moved to Florida. Although I could be wrong about that. 

All those days seem so distant now.  Yet I remember some of them as if they were yesterday.  I told Marshall that I remember your dad's oil truck parked in front of your house.  And I remember going to your house for trick-or-treating as a young kid. I also remember you were related to the Flemings too, although that has just popped into my brain from who-knows-where!

You all were so very fortunate to have had your mother with you for as long as you did.  Her picture, though older, shows a beautiful lady not unlike the younger lady I once knew.  She was only 6 years younger than my mother, who has been gone now since 1986. So when you grieve for your loss of her, think also about the great gift to you all of her longevity from God!
