Malcolm Wayne Sutphin Sr.

Malcolm Wayne Sutphin, Sr., 66, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce, FL. He was born on May 17, 1948 at home in Flint Hill, Virginia to Raymond and Elizabeth (Baldwin)Sutphin.

Wayne grew up on the farm in Flint Hill Virginia. He had a deep passion for music and playing the drums. He started playing music at a very early age it was something that made him very happy until the day he passed. In his early years he was an avid horseman, winning the pairs race at Ben Venue with a full cast on his leg.

Wayne married Ann Marcey Bowman in 1982 in Flint Hill, VA. They were happily married for 32 years.

Wayne was a life member of BPOE, Elks Lodge of Front Royal,Virginia for over 25 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Front Royal Virginia for over 30 years.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, watching sports and spending time with his family. Wayne worked for William A. Hazel of Chantilly Virginia as a Stone Crew Foreman for over 20 years. After retirement he and his wife Ann enjoyed traveling in their RV across country. They later settled down in Fort Pierce Florida.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Elizabeth (Baldwin)Sutphin; his brother Charles Edward Sutphin; his sisters Loretta( Sutphin) Lee and Marlyn(Sutphin) White; and his son Kevin Wayne Sutphin.

Wayne is survived by his wife Ann of Fort Pierce, FL; his daughter Tracey(Sutphin) Miller (Christie) of Camden Wyoming DE; his son Malcolm Wayne Sutphin, Jr. (Denise) of Culpeper, VA; his step sons Clinton Bowman (Kim) of Bristow, VA; Chris Bowman (Eleni) of Locust Grove, VA and Tim Bowman (Christine) of Edmond OK; his 11 grandchildren; and his brother Jody Martin Sutphin, of Sibley LA and lots of nieces and nephews .

A memorial service will be held at Turner Robertshaw funeral home, 1200 N. Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal VA at 11am-1pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015. The family will be greeting friends and family following the service at the Elks Lodge of Front Royal, Guard Hill Rd, Front Royal, VA. He will be laid to rest in the cemetery at the United Methodist Church, Flint Hill VA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
