He was born in Fall River, MA. He served honorably in the Army from 1945-1947 as a medic and x-ray tech. He and his wife Margaret lived in Norwich, CT where they raised a family of seven children. Norman worked at Electric Boat Shipyard as a Senior Designer for 30 years; something that he was proud of up to his dying day.
Norman lived life on his own terms for all his years and was stubborn to the end, refusing to move back North with his family. He loved them – but he could not leave Florida, sunshine, and his friends.
Survivors include three daughters; Margaret Fayden of Norwich, CT, Rosemary Desmarais of Sanford, NC, and Maureen Nelson of Pawcatuck, CT; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Sadly, Norman was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Margaret, and four of his children -daughter, Eileen Couture; and sons, Norman Desmarais Jr, Daniel Desmarais and Mark (Mickey) Desmarais.
His family will at long last bring Pa home for a private service at a yet to be determined date. He will lie in peace with Margaret in a Veterans Cemetery.
