

Peggy was born in Lynchburg, VA and had been a resident of Indian River County for 3 years and St Lucie county for 43 years coming from Lynchburg, VA. She was a graduate of Radford University in VA and had also attended Nova University for Graduate studies.
Prior to retirement from Mariposa Elementary, Port St Lucie, FL, Peggy worked as a public school teacher in Campbell County, Virginia, and also in both the St Lucie and Indian River Counties in Florida. She loved working as a teacher and touched many children’s lives. She also volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Peggy enjoyed spending time with the family and writing poetry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL.
She is survived by her sons, Jonathan Jernigan, Bob Jernigan Jr.(Wendy), Timothy H. Jernigan (Alena), all of Fort Pierce, FL; sister, Brenda Mihalko(Dick), of Port St Lucie, FL; brother, Carroll M. Cassada(Jean), of Deland, FL; nephews, Gregory L. Daugherty, Kevin Cassada; nieces, Karan Bailey(Steve), Debra White, Darlene Moore; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, J. Marvin and Nellie Cassada; brother, Ronnie L. Cassada; nephews, R.L. Junior Cassada and Johnnie Cassada.
A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held at 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Chapel by the Sea-1717 Gulfstream Avenue Fort Pierce, FL 34949.
