Thomas was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. He has been a resident of Fort Pierce, Florida for the past 26 years.
He served in the US Navy During World War II.
Prior to retirement Thomas was an iron worker for 40 years in Battle Creek, MI where he was member of the Iron Workers Local #340. Thomas was a member of the Men’s Golf Club at Spanish Lakes Fairways. He enjoyed golf throughout his life.
Survivors include son Robert (Deborah) Hess of Calico Rock, AR; daughters, Karen (Michael) Smith of Port St. Lucie, FL, Janet McIntyre of Kalamazoo, MI; brother Jerry (Suzie) Hess of Wilmington, NC; dear friend Candy Hohmann of Fort Pierce, FL; 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Lois Ione Hess; sister Nan Dennis and brother Richard O. Hess.
