PECK, on Monday, June 9, 2014 Alice Ida Peck, Balcarres, Sask. and formerly of Abernethy, Sask. died at the age of 91 years. A public graveside service will be held in the Abernethy Cemetery on Saturday, July 12th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Mee officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow in the Abernethy Hall. Mom was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Family meant so much to her, and she beamed whenever anyone asked about them she always carried pictures to show off. She loved to crochet, a skill started by her own mother, then taking the interest much further and learning on her own, winning several prizes for her work at the Abernethy Fair. Mom was a trivia buff, she could give anyone a run for their money, even in her later years. Cats, how she enjoyed her pets! Several hummingbird feeders were strung by the windows and she looked forward to hearing the song birds in the spring. She was a very independent woman, steadied the reigns for many years, only accepting help when offered, rarely asking, and sometimes, still too proud to take it. Leaving her home in Abennethy, she moved into Balcarres Extendicare for a short time, then into the Integrated Care Centre where she thrived! Mon loved the entertainment, sang along and tapped her toes with many a song, won at bingo frequently, and enjoyed visiting with other residents and families. We would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at the BICC for all their care and compassion towards mom and us during her stay, it will not be forgotten. There is no better facility in the province.
Alice Peck was predeceased by her husband Albert; her sons Ronald and Edward and is survived by her daughter Lisa (Danny) Bogard two sons Bud (Lorraine) and Bob Peck; her grandchildren Michelle (Arnie) Miller, Kyle (Sarah) Peck, Nicole (Michael) Peck-Velenosi, Brian Peck, Kevin (Jody) Peck, Sarah (Michael) Peck-Mercer, Logan, Riley and Ciara Trapp; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
