Allan Hurford

July 1, 1924 ñ June 20, 2013 Allan passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2013 after living his entire life in Balcarres. His love of being a farmer had him bragging each year of how long he had taken part in harvest ñ 78 years in total. Predeceased by his wife Audrey in 2000. Allan is survived by his sons: Murray (Jenny) and Garth (Marla); grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jodie (Wade LaForge), Tyler and Luke Irving; Susan (Jeff), Nahlia Rollin: Kent (Faye), Athena, Capriana, Paul and William Hurford; Trevor (Stella Dang) Hurford; Brent (Leeta), Essa Hurford; Leah (Denis), Kara and Torie Kotylak. Allan was a dedicated community member and a man who loved to entertain, dance, tell stories/jokes and hear the bells of the slot machine ring. His ability to re-name everyone with a nickname and to make people laugh and feel welcome in his presence was what made him a popular person to people of all ages. We will miss this kind and caring character in our lives. Service of Remembrance to be held in St. Andrews United Church, Balcarres, Sk on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian R. Mee officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Allan may be made to Balcarres and District Community Foundation Inc, Box 850, Balcarres, Sk S0G 0C0 or a charity of your choice.
