Hanya passed away suddenly on May 9, 2014 at the age of 58 years old. Hanya went home to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She leaves to mourn, her father Henry Bird; her six children Melodie (Jamie) Brittain, Vanessa (Justin) Leggott, Anne-Marie (Cleon) Starr, Yolanda (Conrad) Merasty, Diana Peigan (Farhan) and James Peigan; her twenty-one grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; beloved seven sisters and four brothers; five sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law. Hanya has numerous family and friends who knew and loved her dearly.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at Kaniswapit School on Muscowpetung First Nation. Wake Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Service May 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Burial Service is to follow at Asham Beach on Pasqua First Nation.
