

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that our son, brother, husband and father, Joseph (Joe) James Missens has been called home by the Creator on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the age of 39 years old.
Joe was predeceased by his father Mervin Missens Jr.; brothers Jordan and Justin Missens; paternal papa Mervin Missens Sr.; paternal grandma Lorna Missens; paternal uncle Vince (Ben) Missens; maternal Kokum Kathleen ‘Ida’ Desjarlais; maternal papa Clifford Garneau; maternal auntie Naomi Desjarlais and maternal uncles: Delbert and Clifford Houle and Shawn and Todd Desjarlais.
Joe is survived by his mother Deidre Missens (nee Desjarlais); little sister Jessica Missens; loving wife Josephine Dubois; children: Shawna, Aiden, Quentin, Kaden Sparvier (nephew they raised) and his daughter Rosea Agecoutay; his nephews: Cadell, Memphisz, Hayden, Rydell and Isaac; his nieces: Jaydah, Nevaeh, Phoenix, Justice, Kairo, Keiren, Kahtaleeah, Leilah and Akira and many aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
A traditional wake for Joe was held in Chief Ben Pasqua Memorial Hall, Pasqua First Nation on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service was held in Chief Ben Pasqua Memorial Hall on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Gary Gott officiating. Interment followed in Missens Family Cemetery, Pasqua First Nation.
The family respectfully asks that no children under the age of 12 attend the wake and funeral.
