Justin Colin Scott Missens

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that our son, brother, husband, father, uncle and nephew, Justin Colin Scott Missens has been called home by the Creator on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the age of 35 years old.

Justin was predeceased by his paternal Papa Mervin Missens Sr., paternal Grandma Lorna Missens, paternal Uncle Vincent “Ben” Missens, maternal Kokum Kathleen “Ida” Desjarlais, maternal Papa Clifford Garneau, maternal Uncles Delbert Houle, Clifford Houle, Shawn Desjarlais, Todd Desjarlais and maternal Auntie Naomi Desjarlais and little brother Mervin Jordan “Guy” Missens III.

Justin is survived by his parents Mervin and Deidre Missens (nee: Desjarlais); his loving wife Brandy Chicoose; children Jaydah Lynn, Naveah Hope, Phoenix Elaine, Justice Faye, Kairo Addison, Keiren Beverly, step-sons Rydell, Isaac and Hayden Chicoose; grandsons Jackson and Milo; his big brother Joseph (Josie) and little sister Jessica; his nephews; Aiden, Cadell, Quentin, Memphisz. His nieces; Shawna, Kahtaleeah, Leilah, Akira; and many Aunties, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Justin grew up on the Pasqua First Nation and lived there almost all his life. He lived life on the edge and was an “act now…think later” kinda guy. He was the life of the party and always made everyone laugh. He loved to cook and liked trying out new recipes. He also liked to take outings to the VLT’s for spins and pick up his stack of scratch-n-wins.

He was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age and he struggled with it. In the last year and a half he turned his life around and focused on his family and health. The damage from diabetes was too much for his body and he grew tired.

The wake will be held in the Chief Ben Pasqua Memorial Hall, Pasqua First Nation on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the same location on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Gary Gott officiating. Interment in Missens Family Gravesite, Pasqua First Nation.
