Mike Stephen Astalos

Mike is survived by his wife of 64 years Elsie; his children Glenda (Tom) Whalen and Clint Astalos; his grandchildren: Nik (Miranda) Whalen, Travis (Jana) Whalen and Amy Astalos (Thomas Hesterman); his great-grandchildren Nash and Emery Whalen and his sister Ethel. He also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mike was a Journeyman Welder working with Dominion Bridge and Ipsco for many years. But his greatest passions were his Percheron horses and cooking. Mike’s love for cooking has left wonderful memories of the smell of homemade smoked sausage and soup.

Mike was predeceased his parents Louis and Elizabeth Asztalos; his siblings and their spouses: John, Frank (Ruby), Theresa (Joseph) Zimmer, Mary (John) Kovacs, Louis, Kathleen (Thomas) Aubin, Annie (Walter) Wilchynski, Julia (Mike) Chytyk, Helen (Lawrence) Matkowski, Joseph, Elizabeth and Steve in infancy.

He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Dad.

The family would like to thank Echo Lodge for the wonderful care that Mike received in the last few months.

Cremation has taken place, with a private family interment at a later date.
