STARBLANKET - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Daughter, Sister and Auntie Robyn Joy Starblanket of the Okanese First Nation at the age of 36 years. Predeceased by paternal and maternal grandparents, Victor and Mary Starblanket, Richard (Dickie) and Amy Stonechild, sisters, Sydelle Akapew and Jeannie Starr and brother Allan Noel Starr, special nephews; Cameron Akapew and Levi Delvery, uncles; Irvin and Gerry Starblanket, aunties; Faith Stonechild and Donna Cyr. Robyn is survived by her children; Jordan Allan Fredrick and Ashton Sydelle Starblanket, special children, Caleb and Ivy Jo Starblanket, her mother, Patti Stonechild, her father, Fredrick Starblanket, step-mother Dawn Starblanket, sisters; Jackie (Ben), Alicia Starblanket, Starla Bob, Cheryl (Greg) and Starlene, adopted sister, Vice Chief Kim Johnathan, brothers: Wendell (Sonia). Fred (Donna) and Kelsey (Margaret), special aunt and uncle Joanne and Sidney Akapew and Dale Murray Stonechild and also her nieces nephews and cousins. The wake will be held in the Okanese Learning Centre, Okanese First Nation on Monday, January 27, 2014 commencing at 4:00 p.m. with a respectful combination of both Dakota and Cree Traditional Funeral Service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Elders and Stanford McKay officiating. Interment in Star Blanket Cemetery. (At the request of the family no children under the age of eight at the wake but more than welcome at the funeral). The family would like to thank the Balcarres Emergency Medical Team and F.H.Q. Tribal Crisis Team, Rayne Tuckanow and Joyce Poitras and Chief Marie Anne Day Walker Pelletier and Councillors Ron Elliott, Richard Stonechild, Dan Walker and Penny Tuckanow, also all friends and family who helped out that tragic morning of her passing.
