

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother and grandmother, Agnes Jadwiga Zolkowski, on May 6, 2026 at the age of 88 years. Born on January 16, 1938 in Huszcza Poland, she lived a full life devoted to her family, faith and friends.
Agnes is survived and missed dearly by her children, Wesley (Angela), and Teresa (Ian); four cherished grandchildren, Candace (Joe), Mandi (Cameron), Chrystyn (Tomas), and Darek (Jetta); as well as two wonderful great grandchildren, Aleena and Evan. Agnes is also survived by two sisters, Alicia and Renia; and her brother, Felek in Poland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews both in Poland and Ontario.
Immigrating to Canada in 1959 from a small farming village in Poland, Agnes joined her husband, Mieczyslaw and started their family while homesteading the farm north of Athabasca, AB. The friendship and support of many neighbors made adjusting to her new life in Canada easier, making it feel like home.
In 1979, Agnes ventured into the next part of her life's journey moving to Fort Saskatchewan, AB where she resided for 43 years. Through her hard work, independence,friendly and generous nature, Agnes was able to build a life surrounded by her family, faith and many close friends. Agnes worked at the Rivercrest Care Centre for over 20 years in Food Services as a cook and was known for her amazing baking talents.
In 2022, Agnes made her final move to the West Country Hearth, a seniors facility in Villeneuve AB, residing near her daughter Teresa and son in law Ian. Agnes once again adapted to her her home with the support of her family and the wonderful residents and staff at West Country Hearth.
Some of Agnes's loves included her family and friends, dancing and singing, travelling, gardening and nature walks, but mostly to be surrounded by the love and friendship of others. Her legacy of warmth, love, and the importance of gatherings will be remembered through the generations she leaves behind.
Agnes' funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Angels Church in Fort Saskatchewan, 10004 101 St, Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
