

Sunday, March 27th at the age of 88 years. Following a ten year struggle with Alzheimer’s
he passed away quickly and peacefully at his home in Edmonton in the company of his
live-in caregivers.
George will be lovingly remembered by his son Richard, his grandson Nikos, his siblings
Darlene, Helen and Billy, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Marge; sisters Emma, Madeleine, and Diane; and
his parents Anna and Otto.
George grew up on a farm in southern Saskatchewan and ended up travelling the world.
First with the Royal Canadian Air Force stationed in Europe and the Middle East, and later
in retirement. He transferred to Portage La Prairie, Manitoba two years after marrying
Françoise Camille Oberlaender in Paris in 1964. In Portage, he began his life long practice
of painting. He was a prolific artist with over three thousand canvases to his name. In the
mid eighties he married his second wife Margaret Rose Tosczak who sadly passed away
suddenly in 1988. George will be laid to rest next to Marge as per his wishes. Throughout
his life George loved telling stories, playing table tennis and volleyball, running marathons,
skydiving and paragliding. He lived well and long.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Easter Monday the 18th at First Memorial
Funeral Services - Riverview Chapel, 11090-86 Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan, AB, T8L 4K6.
If you decide to join us, please wear masks and do your best to distance while we are
indoors.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to each of George’s personal caregivers
over these last ten years. Thanks to their care and compassion he was able to stay at
