Mr Joseph Alvin Stringer

1937-2014

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Stringer, of Fort Saskatchewan, at the age of 77. Joe fought a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, which ended at Rivercrest Care Centre on Friday, August 15, 2014.

He is survived by his loving family, wife of 41 years, Evelyn, 3 children; Sherri of Brantford, Ontario, Stacey and husband Gavin of Edmonton, Alberta, and Nicole and husband Scott of Calgary, Alberta. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Derek, Tylor, and "his heart and soul", Madison, as well as three great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, one sister, and numerous other family and friends.

Joe is predeceased by his parents, one sister, and one daughter, Patti Jane.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 21 at 1 PM at First Memorial Riverview Chapel, 11090-86 Avenue in Fort Saskatchewan. A reception will follow the service.

Donations in lieu of flowers gratefully accepted directed to Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, where he spent several months under their amazing care. The family would like to thank Dr. Stecyk, and all of the staff and nurses of Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, and Dr. Smiley and his staff at the Cross Cancer Institute.
