

Stephen “Steve” William Hayes of Fort Saskatchewan passed away on February 14, 2016 at the age of 69. He leaves to mourn his loss and remember his life, his wife, Donna; his son, Steve (Lisa) of Boston, MA; daughter, Andrea of Edmonton and granddog, Ceildh. He is also remembered by his siblings in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia - Eleanor O’Hara (Glen), Patricia Hayes, Sharon Hayes, and John Hayes. He was predeceased by his sisters Gloria Hilchie and Margaret Heddon and his parents Stephen and Joan Hayes.
Steve served in the Canadian Army from 1964 to 1967 in both Canada and Europe. He then started a career as a journeyman plumber which eventually led to a long tenure with the Elk Island School Board as Director of Facilities. He continued his education with the Council of Educational Facility Planners, International as a “Recognized Educational Facility Professional”. After his retirement he spent his days as a Facility Manager at Ross Creek Professional Center.
Steve’s family invites you to share memories with them at an informal celebratory gathering on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 10 am to 12 pm at First Memorial Riverview Chapel, Fort Saskatchewan. Steve will be laid to rest following a service in Nova Scotia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, to honour Steve’s lifelong passion and spirit for continuous learning, his family would appreciate donations to any local charity for children’s education.
